November 6, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

In Season 2, Episode 8 of the Starz prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, entitled “The Dance,” Lord Lovat brings Julia to an event honoring Loyalist Lairds who fought against Jacobites in the Rebellion. collider.com reported that Tony Curran discussed his character’s vanity, the hate mail he receives as a badge of honor, and the events of the season.

Lord Lovat Embraces Villainy in Season 2

Tony Curran stated that he takes the hate mail he receives as a badge of honor. He described his character as having a clownish, completely ridiculous nature while remaining particularly Machiavellian. Curran pictured the character as an old dame going to the ball, describing him as an old peacock wanting to look pretty and handsome for the upper echelon.

Simon Fraser being called the Hero of Inverness represents a contradiction of terms for the character. Curran noted that he wears a silver medal from the king, making his feathers up as he struts around clean-shaven and dressed in glad rags.

Julia Moriston is learning the hard way that keeping Lord Lovat happy comes at a price in Outlander: Blood of My Blood! The Poisoning of Ellen and Brian’s Vengeance

Lord Lovat poisoned Ellen to advance his schemes with little remorse. Curran noted that the character is very black and white with no gray area.

When Brian realized what Lovat did to Ellen, a confrontation erupted. Curran noted that he did not think Brian had the gonads to do what he did.

Lovat Pursues Lady Margaret Grant as a Social Prize

At the event honoring Loyalist Lairds, Lovat meets Lady Margaret Grant, played by Erin Shanagher. Lovat views her with a sense of affluence and is smitten by her, seeing her as a social prize. He is like, “Get a room!,” when they’re canoodling in a stairwell.

Julia recognizes what is happening between Lovat and Lady Margaret. Curran suggested that Lovat is likely to sweep Julia aside or make her disappear rather than deal with a formal divorce. Looking ahead, Lovat may marry Lady Grant, face the ongoing danger involving Julia, and figure out his dynamic with Brian following the violent clash.
