WashU Medicine Students Deliver Interprofessional Care at Pro Bono Health Clinic
ST. LOUIS, MO - Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) medical, occupational therapy (OT), and physical therapy (PT) students are collaborating too provide comprehensive care to patients at the Pro Bono Health Clinic, offering vital services to an underserved population. The interprofessional approach, highlighted during a clinic session on October 24, 2025, demonstrates a commitment to holistic patient well-being and innovative medical education.
The Pro Bono Health Clinic, staffed by WashU students under the supervision of licensed professionals, addresses healthcare disparities in the St.Louis community by offering free medical services. This collaborative model allows future physicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists to learn from each otherS expertise, mirroring the integrated care environments they will encounter in their careers. Pavanacharoensuk and Halton were among the students providing OT and PT services to a patient during a recent clinic visit, exemplifying this team-based approach.
This interdisciplinary training is designed to improve patient outcomes and prepare students for the complexities of modern healthcare. By working together, students gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of medical conditions and the importance of addressing the physical, emotional, and functional needs of each patient.
