Dozens of Celebrities Rally in London for ‘Together for Palestine‘ Fundraiser
LONDON – A star-studded concert, “Together for Palestine,” took place in London on Wednesday, drawing dozens of celebrities to raise funds for medical aid adn support for Palestinians in Gaza. The event followed recent displays of support for Gaza at the Emmy Awards and earlier advocacy from artists including Billie Eilish and Javier Bardem.
The benefit concert arrives amid ongoing conflict and a dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Proceeds from the event will go towards medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), providing critical medical care for those affected by the conflict. The concert reflects a growing wave of activism within the entertainment industry, with hundreds of artists joining the Artists4Ceasefire campaign and publicly calling for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid.
Wednesday’s event builds on momentum from the recent Emmy Awards, where nominee Javier Bardem wore a keffiyeh – a conventional Palestinian scarf – on the red carpet to protest what he called “the genocide in Gaza.” Emmy winner Hannah Einbinder also used her acceptance speech to call for a “Free Palestine.”
The Artists4Ceasefire campaign gained traction in late October 2023 with an open letter urging the US Congress and then-President Joe Biden to demand an immediate ceasefire.
At last year’s Oscars, Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas, were among a group of celebrities who wore red Artists4Ceasefire lapel pins, advocating for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
