TNI Report Against Ferry Irwandi Blocked by jakarta Police
Jakarta, Indonesia – Teh Jakarta Metropolitan Police declined to accept a report filed by the indonesian National Army (TNI) against Ferry Irwandi, CEO of Malacca Project, regarding alleged criminal acts and defamation, officials confirmed Monday. The TNI had sought to file a complaint based on findings from its cyber patrols concerning content created by Irwandi.
The rejection stems from jurisdictional issues and questions surrounding the nature of the alleged offenses, according to sources within the Jakarta Police. While the TNI maintains it uncovered evidence of criminal activity through its cyber monitoring, police officials indicated the matter falls outside their purview and may require further internal examination within the military justice system. This growth halts, at least temporarily, any immediate criminal proceedings against Irwandi. On September 8, 2025, a delegation from the TNI-including Brigadier General Juinta Omboh Sembiring (Danstsiber TNI), Major General Yusri Nuryanto (Danpuspom), Brigadier General (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah (TNI Head of Legal Affairs), and Rear Admiral Farid Ma’ruf (Kababinkum TNI)-visited Metro Jaya Police Headquarters to consult on the potential report.
“Our consultation was related to us finding the results of the cyber patrol, we found some facts of the alleged criminal acts committed by Brother Ferry Irwandi,” Brigadier General Juinta Omboh sembiring told reporters at the time.
The TNI’s move followed public statements made by Irwandi, where he reportedly expressed defiance towards potential legal action from a TNI General. the case highlights the complex relationship between civilian law enforcement and the military justice system in Indonesia, particularly concerning online speech and alleged defamation. It remains unclear whether the TNI will pursue other avenues to address its concerns regarding Irwandi’s online activity.
