Charlottesville, VA – Teh University of virginia wrestling team secured a decisive‍ 31-0 victory over bloomsburg university Saturday night, February 17, 2024,⁣ at Memorial Gymnasium. The Cavaliers showcased their strength across ⁤all weight classes, leaving there’s no doubt‌ whatsoever ‌as to ‍their ⁣dominance ⁤in the dual meet.

This shutout ⁤win underscores Virginia’s continued⁣ ascent in collegiate wrestling, bolstering their record and positioning them⁢ favorably⁤ as the season ‌progresses. The ‌result‍ impacts the Cavaliers’ pursuit‍ of a strong finish in the ACC Championship and potential qualification for the NCAA ‌tournament. Keyveon Roller started the night strong for UVA, earning‌ a 7-3 ‍decision over Jace Schafer⁣ at 125 pounds. Kyle Montaperto followed with a⁤ technical fall victory, defeating Kade Kluce 18-0 at 133 pounds with a match ‍end time of 5:25. Gable Porter then pinned Tristan Corbin in 2:14 at 141 pounds, extending Virginia’s lead. Wynton⁤ Denkins‌ continued ⁤the momentum, securing a pin over Dustin Elliott at 149 pounds ⁤in 2:17.

At‌ 157 pounds,No. 26 ⁢Colton‌ Washleski defeated ‌William Morrow by decision, 8-2. Michael Murphy added to the Cavalier tally ⁤with ‍a 5-3 decision over Braidon Woodward at 165⁤ pounds. No.18 nick Hamilton secured a‍ 12-7 decision against Eric Alderfer at ⁤174 pounds, while Griffin⁢ Gammell won a 10-6 decision over Ethan Ducca at 184 pounds.​

Steven‍ Burrell⁢ Jr. dominated Coy Raines at ‌197⁤ pounds,winning by an 8-1 decision.The night‌ concluded with‍ Ryan Catka pinning Mason Rebuck at 285 pounds in 3:15, completing the shutout for the virginia ⁣Cavaliers.
