NYC Dream Realized Despite Family Health Scare
NEW YORK, NY – Erika Kullberg recently achieved a long-held ambition: securing a residence in New York city. The move, initially planned for april, faced an unexpected hurdle just three weeks before the scheduled date when Kullberg’s mother suffered a stroke.
The health crisis prompted a period of reevaluation, with Kullberg and her family considering postponing the relocation. However, the experience ultimately reinforced a powerful lesson: the elusive concept of “perfect timing” is often a barrier to pursuing life goals.
“We kept thinking, ‘Maybe we’ll wait until next year when the timing is better,'” Kullberg shared. “But I learned this year that there is no perfect timing.”
Kullberg observed a common tendency to defer dreams, citing examples like delaying a move, a vacation, a career change, or the pursuit of a passion project, all under the guise of waiting for an unspecified ”someday.” She emphasizes that a feeling of complete readiness is rarely,if ever, achieved.
Despite the ongoing need to dedicate significant time to her mother’s care in Japan, Kullberg and her family proceeded with their plans.”The reality? I’ll still be spending a lot of time in Japan taking care of my mom. But having this new start feels right,” she stated.
Kullberg’s experience underscores the irreplaceable value of time and encourages proactive steps toward realizing personal aspirations. She advocates for prioritizing experiences and relationships now, rather than indefinitely postponing them.
“Go after what you want NOW,” Kullberg urges. “Spend time with people you love NOW. Build the life you dream about NOW.” For Kullberg, knowing her mother’s pride in her accomplishment is the ultimate validation of that decision.
