XPeng Begins Mass Production of World’s First Flying Car
Zhaoqing, China – XPeng, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has initiated mass production of its “Land Aircraft,” marking a pivotal moment as the first company globally to manufacture and deliver flying cars at scale. Production commenced this week at XPeng’s dedicated flying car manufacturing facility in Zhaoqing, Guangdong province, with the first deliveries anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2025.
This launch signifies a major leap toward realizing the long-held vision of personal air mobility. While flying car concepts have existed for decades, XPeng’s achievement addresses critical hurdles in manufacturing, regulation, and infrastructure, potentially revolutionizing urban transportation and logistics. The initial production run is set for 5,000 units annually, scaling up to a capacity of 10,000, with a target of one vehicle rolling off the production line every 30 minutes.
The Land Aircraft features a distinctive design, including a 270-degree panoramic cockpit offering operators a wide field of view. According to XPeng, the vehicle supports both manual and autonomous flight modes, enabling easy navigation and automated flight along preset routes. The company emphasizes sustainability throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle, from production to operation.
XPeng’s Zhaoqing facility is designed to minimize its carbon footprint, incorporating photovoltaic power and energy-efficient equipment. A digital energy management system optimizes energy consumption and reduces emissions. The facility’s design reflects XPeng’s broader commitment to green technology and enduring transportation solutions.
