New Delhi – September 29, 2025 – WhatsApp is developing a new feature allowing users to quickly initiate chats with individuals who have viewed their Status updates, according to a report by Latestly. The “Status Chat Shortcut” aims to streamline communication and encourage more direct interaction within the meta-owned messaging platform.
Currently, responding to a Status requires navigating back to the status itself or searching for the contact. This upcoming shortcut will provide a direct link to start a chat with viewers, potentially boosting engagement and making conversations more fluid. The feature is particularly relevant given WhatsApp’s emphasis on status as a core communication tool, and builds on observations that responding to a Status indicates interest from the viewer.
