Victor Oladipo Eyes NBA Return,Potential Reunion with Pacers Amid Injury Woes
After more than a year sidelined by a critically important knee injury and a stint playing in China, former All-Star guard Victor Oladipo is actively pursuing a return to the NBA. The 33-year-old hasn’t seen game action in the league as tearing his patellar tendon in his left knee during a 2023 playoff game with the Miami Heat against the Milwaukee Bucks while playing for the Rockets.
Oladipo’s journey back to the NBA has included a recent run with the Guangzhou Loong Lions, where he faced NBA preseason opponents like the Timberwolves, Clippers, and Spurs. He also participated in a private workout in Las Vegas in July, attended by representatives from several teams, including the Indiana Pacers – the team with whom he enjoyed his most successful NBA seasons.
The Pacers, currently battling a wave of injuries, including Tyrese Haliburton’s Achilles injury sustained in the NBA Finals, have emerged as a potential landing spot for Oladipo. Despite reportedly looking “well” during his summer workout, he did not secure a contract before the start of the current NBA season.
Oladipo was traded three times during the 2023-24 season, bouncing between teams but never appearing in a game. A return to the NBA, whether with Indiana or another franchise, woudl represent a remarkable comeback for the veteran guard.
