Emerging Tennis Star Vacherot to Face Djokovic, Realizing a ‘Big Three’ Dream
Monte Carlo – French tennis player Lucas Vacherot has earned a semi-final match against Novak Djokovic, a milestone he describes as a unique chance to compete against one of the sport’s legendary figures. For Vacherot, the upcoming match carries particular weight, representing a chance to face a member of the “Big Three” – Roger Federer,Rafael Nadal, and Djokovic - a feat previously denied to him due to timing and circumstance.
Vacherot, only in his fourth year as a professional after completing a university championship in the USA, began his full professional season in 2022, the same year Roger federer retired. This meant he missed the opportunity to play against the Swiss maestro. He encountered Rafael nadal in a tournament setting, but never on the court. Now, with Djokovic’s potential retirement looming, Vacherot views this match as a crucial moment in his career. “Who knows when Novak will retire, although we know it will be sooner rather than later,” Vacherot stated. “So it will mean a lot to play against at least one of the big three in my career. It will be a different feeling for sure to oppose Djokovic. It will be astonishing.”
