BREAKING: Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital & uthealth Houston Ranked Among Texas’ Top 5 Children’s Hospitals
HOUSTON, TX – Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, in close partnership with McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, has been recognized as one of the leading children’s hospitals in Texas, securing a spot among the top five in the state according to the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospitals rankings.
The hospital also ranked sixth in the Southwest region. This achievement underscores the strength of the academic affiliation between the hospital and McGovern medical School, which serves as Children’s Memorial Hermann’s primary teaching hospital for both the department of pediatrics and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences.

Beyond the overall ranking, five specialties at Children’s memorial Hermann Hospital earned national recognition. Pediatric cardiology and heart surgery achieved a ranking of 19th nationally, while pediatric gastroenterology and GI surgery (29th), pediatric neurology and neurosurgery (30th), neonatology (32nd), and pediatric orthopedics (39th) all placed within the top 40 programs in the United States.
Dr. Bela Patel, Graham Distinguished University Chair in the Department of Internal Medicine, and vice dean for Healthcare Quality at UTHealth Houston, emphasized the collaborative nature of this success. “These rankings reflect the strong partnership between Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston,” he saeid. “The recognition highlights the world-renowned expertise of our physicians and their unwavering commitment to providing exceptional, compassionate care to children and families across our community.”
