Ho Chi Minh City police have arrested the owner and two associates of an unlicensed beauty clinic accused of performing illegal liposuction procedures on over 500 clients, generating approximately VND10 billion (US$380,000) in illicit profits this year.
Nguyen Thi huong, 32, proprietor of “Ho.pital SW” located on Cao Thang Street, was taken into custody alongside Nguyen Minh Khai and Duong Tan Long on Friday, according to investigators. The case highlights the risks associated with unregulated cosmetic surgery in Vietnam and underscores growing concerns about patient safety and deceptive marketing practices within the country’s booming beauty industry. Authorities are urging anyone who received liposuction at the clinic to file a complaint.
The examination revealed that despite operating without the necessary medical licenses, Ho.pital SW aggressively marketed professional fat-removal services. Police allege Khai, who lacks a surgical license, performed the liposuction procedures while long managed the clinic’s marketing, including creating misleading advertisements featuring fabricated testimonials and employing individuals to pose as satisfied customers on social media.
The clinic is accused of deceiving customers into believing qualified surgeons were performing the procedures. Police have initiated a call for individuals who underwent liposuction at Ho.pital SW to come forward and report their experiences to the city police investigation office.
