Trentino Councilors Protest Exclusion from Key Events with Prime Minister Meloni and Euregio Anniversary
TRENTO – Democratic Party councilors Alessio Manica and Francesca Parolari have formally questioned the provincial government regarding the exclusion of the Trentino Provincial Council from two recent high-profile events: the inauguration of technological innovations at Melinda, attended by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Euregio Representative Office in brussels. The councilors argue the omissions represent a significant institutional oversight and undermine the authority of the Trentino Legislative Assembly.
The Democratic Party representatives highlight that no invitations were extended to the councils of Trento and bolzano, or to the Landtag of Tyrol, for the Euregio anniversary event. this interregional cooperation, established three decades ago, is crucial for coordinating policies and fostering collaboration between the Italian regions of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Tyrol in Austria. The councilors’ inquiry seeks clarification on the organization of both events, the rationale behind the exclusions, and whether future celebratory initiatives are planned.
Manica and Parolari have requested an official assessment from the Presidency of the Provincial Council regarding what they characterize as a “sequence of institutional rudeness,” asserting that such actions risk “delegitimizing the entire trentino Legislative assembly.” The Democratic Party’s concerns center on the Provincial Council’s role as the “highest expression of the Trentino community” and the importance of it’s inclusion in events of regional and international meaning. The outcome of this inquiry could prompt a review of protocol for future events involving regional and national leaders and interregional organizations like Euregio.
