Majority of young TikTok Users Report Spending Excessive Time on Platform, New Research Shows
WASHINGTON, D.C. – December 10, 2025 – A new study from Edison Research reveals that a significant majority of young TikTok users – 63% of those aged 18-24 – believe they spend too much time on the social media platform.This equates to approximately 21 million Americans. Weekly users aged 25-44 and 45+ are considerably less likely to feel this way, with 40% and 27% respectively reporting excessive usage.
The findings highlight growing concerns about the platform’s addictive qualities and potential impact on users’ well-being, especially among its youngest demographic.Edison Research is exploring these trends further,including how users are attempting to manage their TikTok consumption and broader perceptions of the app,in an upcoming webinar. The data underscores a broader conversation about digital wellness and the challenges of balancing online engagement with real-life priorities.
