Paris,France – 2025/10/29 – The prestigious Académie Goncourt today announced the shortlist of ten novels vying for the 2025 Goncourt Prize,France’s most celebrated literary award. this year’s finalists are: Islaine Dunant for An infinite love (Albin Michel); paul Gasnier for The collision (Gallimard); Yanick Lahens for Night passengers (Sabine Wespieser); Caroline Lamarche for The beautiful dark (Threshold); Hélène Laurain for Tambora (Values); Charif Majdalani for The names of kings (Stock); Laurent Mauvignier for The empty house (Midnight); Alfred de Montesquiou for The twilight of men (Robert Laffont); Guillaume Poix for Perpetuity (Vertical); and Maria Pourchet for Flinch (Stock).
Notably, Laurent Mauvignier is a previous finalist, and his inclusion with The empty house marks him as a strong contender. maria Pourchet’s Flinch has also garnered pre-selection attention, with the author recently stating that “fiction is joy.” The final deliberations will take place at the Drouant Hotel in Paris, continuing a tradition steeped in literary history. David Thomas’ A brother (The Olivier) was previously listed but is not among the final ten.
