Tarleton State Tennis Duo to Compete at ITA Conference Masters Championship
SAN DIEGO,CA – Tarleton State sophmore Castano and freshman Ishii will represent the Texans at the ITA Conference Masters Championship,beginning Thursday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego,California. The pair earned Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Doubles Players of the Month honors for October prior to the event.
Castano has emerged as a leading player for Tarleton State this fall, demonstrating consistency and confidence that anchors the team’s lineup. Ishii has quickly made an impact in her first semester, displaying strong composure and chemistry with Castano, resulting in an undefeated doubles record this fall. Their success elevates Tarleton State’s presence in doubles competition at a high-level collegiate event.
Castano’s first singles match is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. CT against University of Denver’s Marley Lambert. The doubles team of Ishii and Castano will face Richmond’s lara Bakhaya and Sofia Maria Barbulescu on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
The ITA Conference Masters Championship features elite players nationwide, providing a challenging draw and valuable experience for the Texans as they prepare for the spring dual-match season. Under head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron,Tarleton State is establishing itself as a top program within the WAC and a growing force in division I tennis.
