Moulvibazar, Brahmanbaria Claim Surma Zone Kabaddi Titles
SYLHET, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) – Moulvibazar and Brahmanbaria districts secured championship honors in their respective divisions at the National Kabaddi Championship, concluding today at the Sylhet Divisional Sports Complex. The victories mark the culmination of intense competition within the Surma zone, determining regional dominance in the traditional sport.
the men’s final saw Moulvibazar overpower host Sylhet wiht a decisive 37-21 scoreline, while Brahmanbaria edged out Habiganj 27-21 in the women’s division final to claim their titles. These results follow a series of compelling semi-final matches that set the stage for the championship showdowns.
Earlier in the tournament, the men’s semi-finals witnessed Sylhet triumphing over Brahmanbaria 52-33 and Moulvibazar convincingly defeating Habiganj 61-21. In the women’s bracket, Brahmanbaria secured a 32-20 victory against Sylhet, and habiganj narrowly defeated Moulvibazar 30-28 in the other semi-final contest.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md Sarowar Alam presided over the final ceremony as the chief guest, honoring the winning teams with the championship prizes. The National Kabaddi Championship serves as a crucial platform for identifying and nurturing talent within the country,contributing to the continued growth and popularity of the sport.
