Franklin, TN – Studio Tenn kicks off the holiday season with a production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, running December 4-21 at the Turner Theater within The Factory at Franklin. The show features choreography by Jeremy dumont, a veteran of numerous White Christmas productions alongside Randy skinner, and co-choreography with Elizabeth McGuire.
The production stars Broadway veterans Christian Borle (Something Rotten!, Jersey Boys) and Lisa Karlin (1776, The Addams Family). McGuire will portray Judy, the love interest of Borle’s character, phil.Dumont and McGuire have a long collaborative history, including previous work on productions of 42nd Street, No, No, Nanette, and White Christmas at The Gateway Playhouse.
Both Dumont and McGuire cite a lifelong connection to the classic film musicals that inspired White Christmas, emphasizing the enduring themes of optimism and finding joy amidst hardship. McGuire notes the show “captures so well – characters drawing the sweetness out of life’s sorrows, celebrating all the critically important things that remain true, even when dealing with hardships.”
McGuire credits mentors Lyndy and Jeromy Smith at the Lexington Theater Company in Kentucky with sparking her passion for musical theater through learning the opening number of white Christmas as a child. She attended Samford University for musical theater and attributes Skinner’s choreography as a pivotal influence on her career path. “What’s so exciting about this production is that we get to work together as a team,” McGuire said, adding, “He’s been doing this show for such a long time - it’s in his bones.”
