Strabane Altercation Leaves Police Vehicles Damaged, One Taken Off Road
Strabane, Northern Ireland – August 31, 2025 – Three police vehicles sustained damage following a disturbance in Strabane early this morning. The incident occurred after officers responded to a reported fight in the Railway Street area around 2:00 AM.
According to a police statement, officers attempting to break up the altercation were met with resistance, resulting in one officer being punched in the arm.A man was afterward arrested on suspicion of common assault,assault on police,and disorderly behavior and remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Upon returning to their vehicles after the arrest, officers discovered significant damage. Two vehicles had wing mirrors broken off, while a third sustained a dent to the boot and had its number plate removed.
“This damage is unacceptable and has resulted in one of our vehicles being temporarily taken off the road for repairs,” a police spokesperson stated. “This reduces our capacity to serve the local community.”
Police are now appealing for facts from the public. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant dashcam, mobile phone, or other footage, is urged to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 206 of August 31st, 2025.
