Stockton, Calif. – A shooting at a family gathering in Stockton Saturday evening left at least four people dead and ten others wounded, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occured around 6 p.m. Pacific Time in the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue.
The shooting unfolded at a banquet hall, impacting victims ranging in age from juveniles to adults. While initial reports suggested the event was a child’s birthday party, authorities have only confirmed it was a family gathering. The motive remains under investigation,though early indications suggest the shooting was targeted. No arrests have been made,and the suspect remains at large.Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin county Sheriff’s Office, stated that investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone wiht information, video footage, or who may have witnessed any part of the incident to contact the sheriff’s office.
California Governor Gavin Newsom‘s office confirmed he has been briefed on the shooting. The incident adds to a growing national concern over gun violence, especially at community events. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s office released a news release requesting public assistance in the investigation.
