Neo-Nazi Group ‘The Base’ suspects Arrested in Spain
CASTELLÓN, Spain – Spanish authorities arrested three suspected members of the neo-Nazi terror group “The Base” on Tuesday, November 25, and carried out five searches in the Castellón province. A judge at Spain’s Audiencia Nacional, the country’s highest criminal court, has ordered the alleged cell leader to be held in custody.
The arrests target individuals linked to a network described by the Southern Poverty law Center as “an antisemitic, white nationalist network that trains members in survivalism and paramilitary skills to prepare them to mount an armed resistance against the government.” the group espouses accelerationism, an ideology that broadly seeks radical social change, and has been adopted by the far-right to justify efforts to destabilize communities and democratic institutions through violence.
one of the key figures identified in connection with the group is Robert Nazzaro, a former Pentagon contractor and analyst at the Department of Homeland Security currently based in Russia. Nazzaro has been accused by alleged former members of ”The Base” of being a Kremlin spy.
“The Base” gained notoriety for its recruitment efforts and paramilitary training, aiming to prepare members for potential armed conflict. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full extent of the cell’s activities and potential connections within Spain and internationally.
