Apple to Release First iOS 26.2 Developer Beta as Early as Tuesday
apple is expected to release the first developer beta for iOS 26.2 “as soon as Tuesday,” according to BloombergS Mark Gurman. This release will be accompanied by corresponding betas for Apple’s other operating systems. The move signals the continuation of Apple’s iOS 26 growth cycle, following the recent launch of iOS 26.1.
The initial beta is not anticipated to include significant new features, though Gurman notes that feature additions could occur in subsequent beta releases, mirroring the pattern of iOS 26.1 where the ‘Tinted’ toggle for Liquid Glass-designed to improve readability-wasn’t introduced until the fourth and final beta. iOS 26.2 is currently projected for public release in December.
iOS 26.1 was a relatively minor update, focused on refining existing features. Apple previously announced plans to introduce US passport support in Apple Wallet and end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging in future software updates. While neither is confirmed for iOS 26.2, the upcoming release presents an possibility for either or both features to debut.
