Pooh Shiesty‘s Attorney Denies Snitching Allegations Following Early Release
Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty is facing accusations of cooperating wiht authorities in his 2020 Florida gun case, claims swiftly and vehemently denied by his legal counsel. The controversy erupted after industry veteran Wack 100 publicly suggested he’d seen documentation indicating Shiesty provided details to prosecutors. This dispute arrives days after Shiesty’s release from federal prison on October 7th, following a sentence of over three years, and raises questions about the circumstances surrounding his lighter-than-expected punishment. The allegations threaten to tarnish Shiesty’s reputation as he re-enters the music scene, while also highlighting the sensitive issue of informant culture within the rap community.
Bradford Cohen, Pooh Shiesty’s attorney, addressed the claims directly on Instagram, calling the suggestion of cooperation “idiotic.” Cohen asserted that Shiesty “gave up no one” and that the defense strategy centered on arguing self-defense, claiming the alleged victims attempted to rob Shiesty and his associates, leading to the gunfire. He further explained that Shiesty received a reduced sentence not due to any deal with the government, but becuase the alleged victims possessed firearms and ammunition in their vehicle.
Cohen emphasized that no defendant in the case cooperated with authorities, stating, “There was no one to flip on.” He attributed the favorable outcome to his own legal work. Shiesty pleaded guilty to gun conspiracy charges in 2022 and was initially sentenced to 63 months. His early release was facilitated by good behavior and completion of a residential drug abuse program.
Wack 100 initially brought the allegations to light during a livestream with DJ Akademiks, stating he had been sent paperwork suggesting Shiesty’s involvement with prosecutors following his arrest in Bell Harbor Islands, Florida, in 2020. The claims prompted Cohen’s public rebuttal and a renewed focus on the details of the case as Shiesty begins rebuilding his career.
