Police⁣ Minister’s Driver Arrested for High-Range ‍Drink-Driving

Bega, NSW – The driver of ‍a vehicle transporting NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley was arrested Tuesday and⁤ charged with high-range drink-driving, police confirmed. The incident occurred ahead of a scheduled event to open the newly completed $23 million Bega Police Station.

The driver underwent a roadside ‍breath test which returned a positive ​result, leading ​to his arrest. ⁣Subsequent testing at Bega police ⁤station revealed a‌ blood alcohol concentration of 0.183 – more than three times the legal⁤ limit. The driver’s license has been⁤ suspended,and he is⁣ scheduled ⁣to appear ‍in Bega Local Court on December​ 24.

Minister Catley was not in the vehicle ⁣at⁤ the time of the ⁣arrest. She is slated to officially open the new Bega Police ⁢Station alongside NSW Police Commissioner Mal​ Lanyon on ‌Wednesday, showcasing the facility’s “state-of-the-art” resources and technology designed to‌ enhance community⁢ safety, according to a press release issued by the Minister’s office.

Police ‌have ⁣confirmed the man has ⁤been ⁤charged with high-range drink-driving. Further ‍details are expected to emerge as the case proceeds through the‍ court system.
