Pokémon Legends Z-A Introduces “Z” Mega Evolution - A High-Risk, High-Reward Battle Tactic
Pokémon Legends Z-A is set to revolutionize Mega Evolution with the introduction of “Z” forms, exemplified by the newly revealed Mega Lucario Z. Unlike customary Mega Evolutions, these “Z” variants prioritize speed and decisive attacks, but at a cost. The first DLC, Mega Dimension, releasing December 10, 2025, will feature mega Lucario Z alongside other Mega Pokémon.
The official Pokémon website details that Pokémon undergoing “Z” Mega Evolution require less time to execute attacks, but consume Mega Essence at a faster rate, making them less viable for prolonged battles. According to the website, “Mega evolutions with ‘Z’ are the most effective at ensuring fast and decisive victories.”
Mega Lucario Z distinguishes itself further by channeling its aura to enhance not only offensive power but also defense, flexibility, and dexterity. It can manifest this aura as a shield or concentrate it into specific body parts for amplified attacks. Like its standard Mega Evolution, Mega Lucario Z remains a Fighting and Steel-type Pokémon.
Mega dimension is positioned as endgame content, challenging players with stronger Pokémon than those encountered in the main story. Along with Mega Lucario Z, players can expect to battle Mega Zeaora, Mega Espinodon, Mega Palimpalim, and Mega Raichu X and Y.
The Mega Dimension DLC will be available for both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, and is priced at €29.99.
