Two Children Killed in Pike County Vehicle Collision
PIKE COUNTY, Ala. – A Saturday morning crash on Alabama 167 near Troy resulted in the deaths of two young children, ages 2 and 5. The collision, reported at approximately 5:20 a.m. on September 20, 2025, involved a 2018 Nissan Kicks and a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.
This tragedy underscores the vulnerability of child passengers in vehicle accidents and highlights the ongoing work of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) to investigate the causes of such incidents. The crash has deeply impacted the Geneva community, where the Nissan driver resides, and prompted medical responses across Pike County.ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing its investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.
The Nissan Kicks was driven by Charles R. Holmes Jr., 37, of Geneva, who sustained injuries and was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment. Two additional children, ages 6 and 10, were also passengers in the Nissan and received medical attention at a local hospital.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was identified as a 16-year-old. The collision occurred on Alabama 167 at the 49-mile marker, roughly nine miles south of Troy. Both of the young victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
ALEA Troopers are currently investigating the crash and have not released further details at this time.
