LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Elon University women’s track and field team concluded competition at the Liberty Kickoff inside the Liberty Indoor Complex on Friday, highlighted by two event victories and a series of personal bests.
The Phoenix saw strong performances across multiple disciplines, with Jasmine Young winning the 5,000 meters in 17:26.66 and Winter Oaster claiming the mile title with a time of 5:10.95. Several Elon athletes achieved personal records, signaling a promising start to the indoor season. The Liberty Kickoff serves as an early benchmark for the team’s progress as they prepare for upcoming competitions and the championship portion of the schedule.
In field events, Isabella Johnson led elon in the shot put, finishing fourth with a personal-best throw of 13.99m, a mark that ranks fifth in programme history. Teammate Adriana Clarke also achieved a personal best in the shot put, placing fifth with a toss of 13.01m. Hannah Schonhoff took third in the high jump, clearing 1.68 meters,while newcomer Eloise Mulready finished fifth at 1.63 meters.
On the track,Shayla Cann finished sixth in the 500 meters with a time of 1:15.63.duna Viñals placed fourth in the 400 meters (57.73), and Mary Sollars achieved a personal best of 58.74 for sixth place in the same event.Caden Cerminara was seventh in the pole vault (3.75m), and Ja’Mia Johnson finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91).
