Morehead, KY – Paris Jackson, Jr., a World War II veteran, former Fleming County Magistrate, and lifelong resident of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away recently at the age of 98. His resilience following a wartime injury and dedication to his community will be deeply missed.
Jackson’s life spanned nearly a century of change, marked by courageous service during a global conflict and a commitment to building a life in his beloved Fleming County. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, humor, and devotion to family, impacting generations of those who knew him. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for funerals.
Born into a farming family, Jackson proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 as a gunner aboard the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier. During a critical moment in the Pacific theater, the ship was struck by a Japanese suicide plane, resulting in injuries to Jackson. He was awarded the purple Heart for his service and sacrifice.
Following his honorable discharge, Jackson returned to Fleming County and dedicated himself to a career in construction, working with Jackson Builders and later alongside his son, Joe, in their family business. He also served his community as a Fleming County Magistrate.Throughout his life, he maintained his connection to the land, enjoying farming, raising hogs and cattle, woodworking, and gardening – activities he continued to participate in even in his final year.
known for his infectious sense of humor and love of laughter, Jackson brought joy to all those around him.He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev.Dr. Michael Powers and Pastor Scott Cummins officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery on Maxey Flat Road. Pallbearers are Michael Farr, Nicholas Farr, Brad Fieldhouse, Jonathan Lovell, Bob Lawson, and Matt Foudray.
