## Padua Leads the Way in Redefining Rehabilitation with “Neurorying” Approach
A groundbreaking study from the University of padua is gaining international attention, published in the prestigious journal «The Lancet Neurology», a leading publication in the field of neurology. The research introduces “neurorying” - a novel model poised too reshape the future of medicine and, specifically, the approach to rehabilitation.
Unlike traditional methods focused solely on biological damage, neurorying champions a holistic perspective, integrating psychological, environmental, and social factors into patient care. This vision transforms rehabilitation from a focus on injury repair to a multidimensional pathway designed to genuinely enhance quality of life.”The international recognition of neurorying as a precursor of a medicine focused on the person in its entirety is an important milestone that reiterates the need for rehabilitation in the care process,” explains Alessandra Del Felice, first author of the study and a neuroscience professor at the University of Padua.
This innovative approach is already being implemented at the neurological clinic and Stroke Unit of Padua Hospital, under the direction of Professor Maurizio Corbetta. Patients benefit from care delivered by multidisciplinary teams utilizing methodologies that extend beyond addressing the physical injury. Plans are underway to expand the model to clinics serving patients recovering from stroke and brain trauma.
The study identifies three core principles underpinning neurorying: the integration of biological factors with external influences, collaborative efforts between diverse disciplines, and the request of innovative tools to create personalized treatment plans.
This research positions Padua as a potential epicenter for a global shift towards a more compassionate and person-centered medical practice, recognizing and rewarding the University’s commitment to cutting-edge research.
