Tigers Fall⁤ too Nevada in Three⁢ Sets

RENO, Nev. – The University of Pacificwomen’s volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Nevada Friday afternoon in a neutral-site match at the Mountain West Network. The loss drops the⁢ Tigers to 4-3 on the season, while Nevada⁤ improves to 6-2.

This marks‌ the first defeat for Pacific after a strong start to the⁣ season, halting a three-match winning streak. The​ result underscores the competitive landscape of ‌the mountain⁣ West ​Conference and the challenges facing ‌the Tigers as they navigate their conference schedule.⁣ Pacific will look to rebound tomorrow against Eastern⁤ Washington, aiming to avoid ⁢a two-match losing streak and maintain⁢ momentum as they progress through non-conference play.

Senior outside hitters Jenny​ Logan⁣ and⁤ Skylar Winegard led the ​Tigers’ offensive efforts, each recording six​ kills. Logan also contributed a team-high 12 digs, ​sharing the team‍ led with ⁤freshman ‌Bella‌ gutierrez, whose 12 digs represent a new⁤ career high and⁤ the second time she’s ⁣reached double-digit digs.

Service aces proved crucial for Nevada, with ​the Wolf Pack ‍logging multiple aces in the third and second ‍sets. Pacific’s own service‍ game was highlighted by senior​ Liz Swain, who⁤ has recorded multiple aces in each of the⁤ last three matches. Fellow senior, setter, Peyton Couchond dished ‍out 22 assists, tying⁤ for ‌the team lead.

Sophomore Olga​ Gergacz made her collegiate debut‌ for the Tigers,adding two kills​ and​ five digs ⁢in two sets of action.

Pacific⁣ will ⁢conclude its⁣ weekend in Reno tomorrow⁣ at 10 a.m. against Eastern Washington. The⁣ Tigers‌ hold ​a‌ 2-0 all-time record ⁤against ‌the Eagles.
