NM State Women’s Golf in Top-10 After Day One of The Clash at Boulder creek
BOULDER CREEK, Nev. – The NM State Aggies women’s golf team concluded the first day of competition at The Clash at Boulder Creek in strong contention, positioning themselves within the top-10 of the leaderboard. Led by standout performances from Emma Bunch and Isa Laulhé, the Aggies demonstrated prowess on par-5 holes and a remarkable ability to card birdies throughout the day.
The Aggies’ performance at Boulder Creek Golf Club is a key early-season indicator of their potential for success in the Western Athletic Conference and beyond. The two-day tournament features a competitive field, and a strong showing here builds momentum as NM State prepares for upcoming challenges. The team will continue play Tuesday, aiming to improve their position and solidify their standing against regional rivals.
Emma Bunch spearheaded the Aggies’ efforts with an remarkable eagle on the 540-yard, par-5 10th hole, becoming one of seven players in the field to achieve this feat on Monday. Bunch finished the day at one-under par overall. isa laulhé also delivered a stellar performance, carding rounds of 70 (-2) and 69 (-3) to finish at five-under par.
Alexandria Armendariz followed closely behind Laulhé, concluding her day with a 69 (-3) and securing a tie for 11th place after 36 holes. Rylee Salome posted a pair of 72s to finish at even par, tying for 25th, while Sophia Luna recorded rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2) for a total of three-over par and a tie for 47th. Frederika Rychtarikova, competing as an individual, finished the day at eight-over par, tying for 76th.
NM State excelled in specific areas of the course, finishing the day two-under par on par-3 holes, largely due to Armendariz’s three-under performance. The aggies also dominated on par-5s,finishing 17-under – seven strokes ahead of the next best team. Bunch led the field on par-5s at six-under, followed by Luna at five-under and Laulhé at four-under. The team tallied a total of 41 birdies, ranking second in the field for the day.
