Albuquerque, N.M. - Javier Delgadillo‘s extraordinary performance, highlighted by eight birdies, propelled him to a tie for 36th place as the NM State men’s golf team concluded the first two rounds of the William H. Tucker Invitational at the UNM Championship Golf Course on Friday.The aggies finished the day in 18th position posting a combined score of 10-over par.
The William H. Tucker Invitational draws collegiate golf programs from across the nation to compete at the challenging UNM Championship Golf Course. This tournament serves as a crucial early-season test for NM State, providing valuable competitive experience and a benchmark for betterment as they navigate their fall schedule. With one round remaining, the Aggies will look to climb the leaderboard and refine their game before upcoming conference play.
Delgadillo led the Aggies with a one-under par total, carding rounds of 74 and 69. Mateo Payan also delivered a strong showing, matching Delgadillo’s second-round score of 69 (-3) to finish the day at even par and secure a tie for 48th place.
Vari Mariscal finished at +6, tying for 88th, while Anthony Lara was +7, tying for 91st.Ethan Klose completed the Aggies’ contingent, finishing at +11 and tying for 100th. Collectively, NM State recorded 28 birdies throughout the first day of competition.
