NLU Delhi Celebrates 12th Convocation, Graduates 269 Law Students
National Law University (NLU), Delhi, awarded degrees to 269 students on Saturday during its 12th Convocation Ceremony. Graduates received degrees across PhD, LLM, Joint Master/LLM/MA, and BA LLB (Hons) programmes. The event drew prominent judges, academics, and dignitaries.
Supreme Court Justice BV Nagarathna delivered the convocation address, congratulating the graduates and emphasizing the responsibilities inherent in a law degree. “This degree is not merely a personal success, but also a call to uphold constitutional values and serve society. You are officers of the court and guardians of the Constitution,” she stated. She urged the graduates to address social, technological, and environmental challenges with innovation, justice, and public service, stressing the importance of integrity and ethics.
Delhi Minister Ashish Sood called the convocation a “historic moment” for students, families, and faculty. He quoted the Upanishads, stating, “Sa Vidya Ya vimuktaye – True knowledge is that which liberates,” and added, “Justice is the soul of our Constitution and of democracy.” He further cited Dr. BR Ambedkar, noting that a good Constitution requires good people to implement it effectively, placing that duty on the graduating class. “Your degree is not just a personal achievement but society’s investment and trust in you,” Sood said.NLU Delhi Vice-Chancellor Prof. GS bajpai highlighted the university’s consistent academic standing, noting its eighth consecutive year ranking second in the NIRF Rankings 2025. He also pointed to the institution’s leadership in areas like insolvency, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and legal technology.
Degrees were conferred by Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya (Chief Justice, Delhi High Court & Chancellor, NLU Delhi). Justice AK Sikri and Prof. BB Pande were awarded Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) degrees in recognition of thier contributions to law and education.
