Disco Returns to Nîmes Arenas with Boney M Legend and Local Talent
Nîmes, France – The Parvis des Arènes in Nîmes will pulse with disco energy this saturday, September 20th, at 8:30 p.m.,as Boney M Legend takes the stage, reviving the iconic sounds of the 1970s. The free concert will also showcase the city’s rising musical stars, winners of Nîmes’ young talent scholarship.
The return of live music to the historic arena forecourt offers a vibrant cultural experience for residents and visitors alike. Boney M Legend promises a dazzling spectacle, channeling the spirit of hits like Rasputin, Rivers of Babylon, and Daddy cool – songs that defined a generation’s carefree hedonism. The tribute act carries on the legacy of the original group, formed in 1975,even after the passing of singer Bobby Farrell in 2010.
Opening the evening will be Jussies, the recipient of the Hope Prize from the city’s competition, who gained recognition through the Netflix series “New School.” Known for a distinctive stage presence and connection with audiences, Jussies will be followed by singer Noé, another scholarship winner, offering a pop-infused sound with influences from Latin and Oriental music.
The headlining act, Boney M Legend, embodies the disco era’s blend of rhythm and tone drawn from Black American music. The original boney M, spearheaded by Briton Leee John (raised in New York) and American-Jamaican Errol Kennedy, achieved a string of successes in the 1980s, including the enduring hit Just an Illusion, released in 1982 and frequently sampled in contemporary music.
