Netflix Orders ‘Trigger point’ Drama Series Starring Joel edgerton
LOS ANGELES – Netflix has given a straight-to-series order to Trigger Point, a new drama starring Joel Edgerton, based on a spec script by Harrison query. The announcement comes after a competitive bidding war for the project, signaling strong industry interest in the material.
The series marks the second straight-to-series order for A24 in recent months, following the legal thriller Discretion starring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, which landed at Paramount+ after a similar bidding process. Both projects are produced by former Fifth Season Head of TV, Hipps, who joined A24 wiht a producing deal last year. Trigger Point will see Edgerton reunite with A24, which is also developing the genre film October starring Cory Michael smith, Chase Sui Wonders, and others.
Query‘s script for Trigger Point also sparked a separate bidding war earlier this year for his short story, Code Black, which sold to amazon for seven figures with Jake gyllenhaal attached to star and produce. Query co-wrote MGM’s Heads of State, starring John Cena and Idris Elba, released in July and ranking as the fourth most-watched movie on the streamer. He also co-created and executive produced the upcoming limited series Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey starring Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen for Paramount+.
Edgerton is currently receiving awards attention for his lead role in Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams, set to receive Deadline’s Disruptors Award at the Sun Valley Film Festival. He recently wrapped production on Season 2 of Apple TV’s dark Matter, slated for a 2026 premiere, and will soon appear in the IFC movie The Plague, which premiered at Cannes.
