12-Year-Old Boy in Stable Condition After Stabbing in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges-NDG
Montreal, QC – A 12-year-old boy is in stable condition following a stabbing in the Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-De-Grâce borough on Tuesday, November 19, 2025. The incident occurred at the corner of Lemieux Street and Barclay Avenue around 6:30 a.m., prompting a police investigation and a public appeal for information.
The boy was transported to a hospital initially listed in critical condition, but authorities reported Wednesday morning that his condition had stabilized. While he is no longer in immediate danger, medical personnel are conducting further evaluations. The stabbing raises concerns about youth violence in the city and the safety of children in public spaces.
“At this moment, we don’t have any arrests, but we’re trying to understand the circumstances that led to that stabbing,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Montreal Police (SPVM). “When the condition of that young boy will get better, investigators will meet with him to try to get more information of what was the reason for that altercation, who was involved.”
Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and seeking witnesses. Brabant stated that investigators are not ruling out the possibility of multiple suspects.
“We’re not saying that was only one person was involved, we’ll try to get more info today and with the victim when he’s going to get better,” Brabant added.
The SPVM is asking anyone with information about the incident, or who may have been in the area around 6:30 a.m. or prior, to contact police by dialing 911.
