Title: Mississippi State Women’s Basketball Loses to Texas Tech

LUBBOCK,‌ Texas The Mississippi State women’s basketball ⁣team suffered its first defeat of ‍the season wednesday,⁢ falling to texas Tech 69-62 despite a blazing start.

Mississippi State exploded⁤ for 31 points in the first quarter – their highest-scoring opening frame of the year and second-most points scored in any quarter this season – shooting 53% from the field. Though,the Bulldogs were‍ unable to maintain that momentum.

Trayanna Crisp and Destiney McPhaul‌ each led⁢ State with 12 points. Crisp went 2-for-4 ‌from three-point range and made ⁤all six of her free⁤ throws, while McPhaul connected on two three-pointers and added four rebounds, four assists, one steal, ⁣and one block.

Madison Francis made her first career start, contributing 10 points and four rebounds. Favour Nwaedozi scored nine points with nine ⁢rebounds, and chandler Prater tallied six points ⁣and six​ rebounds. Kharyssa Richardson nearly achieved a double-double with nine rebounds.

Mississippi State will next‌ compete‍ in ​the Emerald Coast Classic in niceville, Florida. They will open the tournament Monday against alcorn State, followed by a game against either Middle Tennessee or Providence on Tuesday. The tournament will be streamed on FloSports.
