Woman Arrested After Stabbing at Northwest Miami-Dade Restaurant
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – A 22-year-old woman is in custody following a stabbing at a restaurant in Northwest Miami-Dade Wednesday afternoon, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to reports of a stabbing near Northwest 119th Street adn 11th Avenue at approximately 2:20 p.m. Surveillance footage from inside Fritanga Pinolandia captured the incident.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene,with customers shielding children from the attack. “All the customers and my co-workers [were] afraid [of] somebody with scissors,” said Bernardo ruiz, the restaurant’s manager.
Investigators said Damaris Rodriguez had been asking patrons for money when she approached the victim. Ruiz suggested the dispute may have stemmed from a disagreement over money, stating, “Probably they [were] fighting for tips or for food or something that a customer gave to one of them.”
the situation escalated when the victim refused Rodriguez’s request. Rodriguez then followed the victim and stabbed her in the upper extremities, authorities said.
Several witnesses immediatly called 911 to report the attack. ”We called the police. We called the police.Thank God the police come over, thank God,” Ruiz recounted.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Rodriguez was detained at the scene without further incident and taken to jail. She is facing charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The restaurant temporarily closed for several hours while authorities investigated, but reopened in time for the dinner service. As of Thursday afternoon, the victim’s condition remains unknown.
