Women’s Swimming Flies Past river Hawks
GRANTHAM, PA – November 8, 2024 – Messiah University’s women’s swimming and diving team dominated in a dual meet against Susquehanna University, securing a decisive victory fueled by multiple individual wins and strong relay performances. the Falcons showcased their depth and speed, leaving no doubt as to their strength in the pool.
The meet’s meaning extends beyond a simple win, solidifying Messiah’s position as a competitive force within the MAC Conference and building momentum as the championship season approaches. This victory demonstrates the team’s preparedness and sets a high standard for future competitions,impacting their seeding and potential for success in upcoming events.
Madelyn Frey spearheaded the Falcons’ success, claiming gold in both the 200-yard breaststroke wiht a time of 2:37.00 and the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 2:17.47. Teammate Elizabeth Chorba also earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 1:04.95.
The Falcons closed out the competition with a commanding performance in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Rachel Sobkowiak, Kendal Wilson, Kari Mindrebo, and Madelyn Frey secured the top spot with a time of 3:53.65. Ava Gower, Maddy Price, Elizabeth Chorba, and Meredith Westcott followed with a third-place finish in the same event, recording a time of 4:06.61.
