McDonald’s Lifts the Veil: Kitchen Tours now Open to the Public
VILNIUS, Lithuania – McDonald’s is offering a rare glimpse behind the counter with the launch of its “Open Doors” initiative, inviting customers to tour the kitchens of six restaurants across Lithuania. Begining this week, the public can witness firsthand the food preparation and hygiene standards that go into their favourite meals.
The move comes as consumers increasingly demand transparency in food sourcing and preparation. McDonald’s aims to address these concerns directly, showcasing its commitment to quality and dispelling common myths about its ingredients. The tours offer a unique prospect for diners to see how their food is made, from initial preparation to final service, and to gain a better understanding of the restaurant’s daily operations.
Participating locations include two restaurants in Vilnius (Seinaių g. 3 and Pilaitės Ave. 18), and also single locations in Kaunas (King Mindaugo Ave. 18), Klaipėda (Liepų St. 83c), Šiauliai (Tilžės St. 19), and marijampolė (Kaunas St. 28). Tours will be held weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and pre-registration at the respective restaurants is encouraged.
“The transparency of McDonald’s is the basis of everything we do – that’s why we open the door and invite everyone to see what’s going on in our kitchens,” said Peter Tintoi,CEO of McDonald’s for the Baltic States.”food quality begins on partner farms and continues with the highest standards for restaurant teams every day. We always follow the strictest principles of quality, traceability and responsibility.”
The initiative follows recent visits by journalists and opinion leaders, including Ugnė Siparė, who previously participated in the ”mcdonald’s Researchers” mini-TV series, investigating the origins of McDonald’s ingredients. McDonald’s sources 100 percent of its beef from Lithuanian supplier Biovelos, potatoes from Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands, and fresh vegetables from Italy and Spain.
