Mazda Enters a New Era with the All-Electric 6e
Mazda is accelerating its commitment to electric vehicles with the introduction of the 6e,building on the foundation laid by the earlier MX-30. The 6e aims to deliver the brand’s renowned driving experience – embodied in the “Jinba Ittai” ideology of driver and car as one – within a fully electric package.
elegant Design, Driver-Focused Interior
The 6e showcases Mazda’s “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design language, presenting a sleek and sporty profile that echoes the lines of the traditional Mazda 6, but with a distinctly modern aesthetic. Inside, the cabin prioritizes a minimalist elegance, utilizing premium materials like Nappa leather and Alcantara. Mazda has focused on maintaining a driver-centric layout, ensuring comfort and control. A spacious interior is further enhanced by a wide cabin floor and extended wheelbase, providing ample rear passenger room.
Performance and Range options
Mazda will offer the 6e with a choice of battery packs. The standard configuration features a 68.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a WLTP-certified range of approximately 479 km (298 miles). This is paired with a 190 kW (258 hp) rear-wheel drive motor, enabling a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 7.6 seconds. European customers will also have access to a version equipped with a larger 80 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery, extending the WLTP range to up to 552 km (343 miles). A 78kWh LFP battery option with a 190kW motor is planned for the Australian market, promising a range exceeding 500km.
Fast charging capabilities are a key feature, with the 6e supporting up to 165 kW charging, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in around 25 minutes. The model also incorporates Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, enabling the car to power external devices.
Dynamic Handling and Comprehensive Safety
While sharing a platform with the Changan Deepal L07, the 6e retains Mazda’s signature driving dynamics. The rear-wheel drive configuration and balanced weight distribution contribute to a responsive and engaging driving experience, particularly on winding roads. Though steering precision could be improved, the 6e delivers a stable and comfortable ride. Safety is prioritized with a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and a 360-degree camera system.
Availability and Future Outlook
The Mazda 6e is slated for release in the European market in 2025, with availability in Latvia anticipated in early to mid-2026. Pricing is estimated to begin around €37,000 to €50,000, depending on the chosen equipment level and battery size. This model represents a crucial step in Mazda’s electric vehicle strategy, positioning the brand to compete with established players like the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2. All new Mazda vehicles are backed by a comprehensive 6-year warranty.
