Linn Grant secures Annika Title Following Dominant, Near-Flawless Performance
PELICAN GOLF CLUB, FLORIDA – Linn Grant claimed her second LPGA Tour victory at The Annika on Sunday, finishing at 19-under 261 after a remarkable 52-hole stretch without a bogey. the Swedish golfer, co-hosted by Annika sorenstam and Henrik Stenson, finished one stroke ahead of Jennifer Kupcho despite a bogey on the final 18th hole – her first since the opening hole on Friday.
Grant’s win solidifies her status as a rising star in women’s golf and extends a winning streak dating back to 2020, encompassing victories on multiple tours including the LPGA, ladies European Tour, LET Access Series, Ladies Sunshine Tour, Nordic Golf League, and the European Tour.The Annika victory is especially notable as it marks Grant’s second LPGA title and demonstrates her ability to perform under pressure against a strong field.
Kupcho briefly tied for the lead with a birdie on the first hole, but Grant responded with a birdie on the next and never relinquished the lead.A crucial 15-foot birdie putt on the fifth kept her one shot ahead,and she extended her advantage with a 10-foot birdie on the par-three ninth as Kupcho made her second bogey of the front nine.
“I’m glad she was playing well because I think that really pushed me to play better,” Grant said, acknowledging Kupcho’s challenge. “And I just had the thought of whoever wins is going to have a really good job.”
Kupcho closed with a 65,finishing in second place. Gaby Lopez of Mexico secured third place with a 65, carding four birdies in her last six holes. England’s Charley Hull finished joint fourth at 14-under.
Defending champion Nelly Korda, a three-time winner at Pelican Golf Club, finished tied for 15th after a final-round 69, unable to overcome a six-shot deficit.
