Liquid Swords’ frist game, Samson: A Tyndalston Story, a “consequence-heavy noir action game,” is slated for an early 2026 release on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The title will be priced at $25.
The game centers on Samson McCray, a character burdened by debt in a harsh urban environment. Liquid Swords describes the gameplay as built around a “simple, brutal truth: every day costs you,” with accruing debt, limited action points per job, and decisions impacting the city’s response to the player. “Time works against you…there are no do-overs,” the studio stated in a press release.
Founded in 2020 by Christopher Sundberg, creator of the Just Cause franchise while at Avalanche studios,Liquid Swords also includes developers previously involved with Mad Max and the Battlefield series. The studio leveraged its collective experience in combat systems, systemic design, animation, and action-oriented storytelling for Samson.
Despite the pedigree of its team, liquid Swords underwent a workforce reduction earlier this year, citing the need to ensure “long-term sustainability” amidst challenging industry conditions. Console availability for Samson: A Tyndalston Story remains unconfirmed.
