Liceu & La Fenice Orchestras Unite for New Year’s Concert Featuring Hernández & Anduaga
Barcelona, Spain – Teh Gran Teatre del Liceu will ring in 2026 with a landmark concert on January 4th, bringing together the Liceu Orchestra and the Teatro La Fenice Orchestra of Venice for a special New Year’s performance. Celebrated Spanish soprano Saioa Hernández and tenor Xabier Anduaga will headline the event, conducted by Riccardo Frizza.
This unprecedented collaboration marks a significant cultural exchange between Barcelona and venice, two Mediterranean cities with a shared history of overcoming adversity. Both opera houses suffered devastating fires in the 1990s, and this concert symbolizes the resilience and enduring spirit of these institutions. Hernández is slated to perform the lead role in La Monna Lisa by Ponchielli, while Anduaga will make his debut in the title role of Massenet’s Werther later this season.
A 24-hour preferential ticket sale with a 20% discount is currently underway, with general public tickets becoming available Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Liceu’s declaration underscores its commitment to fostering international artistic partnerships and offering extraordinary performances to its audience.
