Borsato Family to Attend Court Thursday as Trial Continues
UTRECHT, Netherlands – Leontine Ruiters and her children are expected to attend Marco Borsato’s trial in Utrecht on Thursday, following his appearance in court today with legal counsel. While the family was not present for the initial proceedings, sources indicate a strong likelihood of their attendance as the defense presents its case.
Borsato arrived at the Utrecht court accompanied by lawyers Peter en Marieke Knoops. Despite a public display of support in the past, Ruiters and their children did not join him today. Presenter Tooske ragas noted the absence on Show News, stating, ”His family was not there and I thought that was striking.”
Entertainment reporter evert Santegoeds speculated the family may have wanted to observe the initial arguments before attending. “I can also imagine Leontine, who always thought: I was never there, why should I be there now,” Santegoeds said. “the children have also made no secret of their support for their father.”
Santegoeds believes Thursday’s proceedings, focused on the defense’s arguments, will be a more suitable time for the family to offer support. ”They have always supported him so much that I think they can give him some support again and then Thursday would be an excellent moment.”
Demonstrations of support from Borsato’s children have also appeared on social media. Daughter Jada posted a photo of a burning candle alongside an angel statue – imagery frequently enough associated with calmness and spiritual connection – while her brother shared a heart emoji.
“Well, that’s tough for them too,” Ragas acknowledged.
The trial continues Thursday with the presentation of the defense’s case.
