Laboulaye Resident Targeted by Facebook Rental Scam

LABOULEYE, Córdoba⁣ – A⁣ resident of laboulaye is warning the public after their home was falsely advertised for rent ⁣on Facebook, part of a ‍scam targeting individuals ⁤seeking housing in the city. The perpetrator(s) are allegedly using exterior photos of the property, sourced from Google maps⁤ or taken directly in front of the residence, to lure potential renters.

The scam involves posting the home‍ for rent at an attractive price of approximately ‌300,000 pesos, capitalizing on Laboulaye’s housing shortage and high rental costs. Victims are then asked ‌for a “sign,” or deposit, to secure their priority for the rental, with the promise ‍of a⁣ lease agreement. However, the resident reports that videos shown to prospective tenants purporting to be ‌of the interior do not match their actual home.

“Apparently it is from the ⁣province of Santa fe, it would operate in other cities and the modality that you use is the following: they take‍ a picture in front of⁤ my house or look for it for Google Maps, offer it for rent, put the value and everything… and of course, people fall to rent⁣ it,” the homeowner stated. The resident has even seen photos of individuals who traveled to view the property, confirming the scam’s reach.Authorities have not yet commented on ⁣the case, but the incident highlights a growing trend of online rental fraud. Scammers often exploit the urgency of house hunters and ⁢the visual nature of ⁣online platforms to deceive potential renters. ‍Residents are urged to exercise caution when responding to rental listings online and to verify the legitimacy of both the property and the landlord before submitting any funds.
