DIXON, Calif. – A northern California pumpkin patch is home to one of the worldS largest corn mazes,offering visitors a challenging and immersive autumn experience. Cool Patch Pumpkins in Dixon boasts a 40-acre maze that typically takes at least 45 minutes to complete, and has twice earned a Guinness World Record.
The elaborate maze, designed to celebrate farmers this year, features five bridges allowing maze-goers to view the stalks from above. Previous designs have honored veterans and first responders wiht giant murals. Created entirely by hand, the maze draws visitors from across the country and even internationally, testing their navigational skills and providing a unique seasonal attraction.
“We want to communicate something fun and exciting, and then we build our pathways around that,” said maze creator Matt Cooley.
Visitors recently navigating the maze admitted to the challenge. “I have no sense of direction, and we could spend all day here. That’s fine. We have water.We’ll survive, three days,” joked Ryan Moore, a visitor from Hawaii.Shelley Tang of redwood City,California,added,”My children have a better sense of direction than me,so I’ll be following them.”
Cool patch Pumpkins also offers a corn bath for toddlers, filled with 150,000 pounds of dried corn. Other record-breaking corn mazes can be found in Quebec, Canada, Minnesota, and Illinois.
