Breaking News: Rising star Kashiwagi Yu is releasing his first photobook, “19→20,” on July 26, 2024, published by KADOKAWA. The book chronicles the actor’s transition from age 19 to 20, featuring photos taken in his hometown of Kumamoto Prefecture and in a Tokyo studio.
Kashiwagi Yu (born Kashiwagi Haru on March 23, 2004) has quickly become a prominent figure in Japanese entertainment. He debuted as a member of the idol group Super Express on August 8, 2023. His acting career gained momentum in 2024 with a starring role in the TBS drama “Not Reached to you,” praised for his “pure charm.” He has since appeared in “I Want to Seize with my Favorite man” (TV Tokyo), headlined “Ghost Yankee” (MBS) – marking his first lead role in a drama – and made appearances in “Bilion x School” and “IC: Instant Memory Investigation – Hiiragi-Tan” (both Fuji TV). His recent role in “I’m at the mercy of a younger Cherry Boy” (MBS) has further solidified his popularity, especially among older female viewers.
The photobook’s concept revolves around capturing Kashiwagi’s evolving persona. Filming took place over two sessions in Kumamoto Prefecture, begining in March 2024. The Kumamoto shoots showcase a youthful Kashiwagi enjoying everyday activities like dining and visiting hot springs. Later,at age 20,he proposed locations like local cafes and souvenir shops for additional photoshoots. The book also features more mature imagery, including Kashiwagi in black costumes and candid shots at the retro Mikado Station. A studio shoot in Tokyo added a sophisticated element with images of him in a chic suit.

Photographer Moroi Junji oversaw the entire project. Pre-order benefits vary depending on the retailer, including exclusive photo prints and event tickets. Further details on these benefits are available on the KADOKAWA website and through participating retailers.
