A second person has died following a single-vehicle crash in Kansas City’s Midtown neighborhood last month. The driver, injured in the oct. 29 incident at Linwood and Broadway boulevards, was pronounced dead Sunday at a local hospital, according to Kansas City police.
The crash underscores the potential for tragic consequences stemming from medical emergencies while driving. The incident affected the victims’ families and briefly disrupted traffic in a busy section of the city.Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.
At approximately 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 29, a Dodge Journey traveling south on Broadway Boulevard went through the intersection of Linwood and Broadway. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver experienced a possible medical emergency.
the SUV left the roadway, collided with a light pole and the Vietnam Memorial, continued across the grass, and ultimately struck the side of a VFW building. Both the driver and the front-seat passenger were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The passenger died at the hospital hours after the crash. Police have not yet released the names of either victim.
