Broadway Box office Surges, Fueled by ‘Oh, Mary!’ Sellout and ‘Ragtime‘ Debut
New York, NY - Broadway’s weekly gross reached $30.78 million, marking a nearly 9% increase over the record-breaking figures from the same period last season, according to data released this week. The strong performance was highlighted by a complete sellout of previews for the new revival of Ragtime and the continued dominance of Oh, Mary!, starring Jinkx Monsoon, which played to a remarkable 100% capacity.
This surge in revenue demonstrates the enduring appeal of live theater and signals a robust start to the current season. Thirteen productions earned over $1 million at the box office, and an impressive seventeen shows achieved 90% or higher capacity. The success of new productions like Ragtime and the sustained popularity of established hits like Hamilton and Wicked indicate a healthy and diverse Broadway landscape, poised for continued growth.
Oh, Mary! led the week with a 103.37% capacity, followed closely by Hamilton at 101.5% and Mamma Mia! at 100.65%. Ragtime also debuted strong, achieving 100% capacity during its limited three-preview-week run with an average ticket price of $143.
